I can't seem to find any events massive enough to blog about. No outdoor parties and raves. I wonder what happened.
The only thing that seems to be worth mentioning is the New Years Eve countdown at Soho KL at Solaris, Mount Kiara. It starts from 3pm to 3am. DJs are unheard of and they have all sorts of performances. Japanese Anime also got. I wonder if they will get Doraemon to come.
This year Malaysia will witness and feel the power vibes of SMARTIE PARTIE. Trace Harris, the founder and percussionist of Smartie Partie, will be here with 4 of SP’s family top DJs: DJ Alex Miles, DJ Lisa German, DJ Matty Wells and DJ Ramone and SP Dancers: Emma, Karleen, Jodie and Kirstie.
Get ready for 2 nights of serious partying!

And for those in Miri (great place to party!)...
P/S I wonder who is the girl showing off her butt in the picture...Irene? Is that you?
A little update on the upcoming event which claimed to be the biggest outdoor street party.

Dress Code : Black & White
I received a text stating that one Club Quattro, the world first club with 4 seasons/climates i.e. Summer, Winter, Autumn and Spring, will be opening on 17 October. Club with 4 seasons? wtf.
Are they saying that 4 seasons means 4 types of venue i.e. restaurant, bar, lounge and club. I think a combination of restaurant + club is not good as you'll get many patrons from restaurants barfing out their meals at the clubs after few drinks.
But check out their "Winter Bar"
Temp : Main room @ around +10ºC; Snowing room @ -5ºC
Climate : Mostly chilly with occasional snow
Feat : DJ's accompanied by live performers
When it snows, it blows, but not at the Winter Bar. Sure, the thermostats fluctuate and may drop to an all-time low. The temperatures vary: at approximately +8ºC to +10ºC in the main room to around -5ºC in the snowing room. At the Winter Bar, everyone gets a reason to dress up and be seen in (literally) the coolest bar in the city.
You wont be seeing any skimpily dressed girls here.
It's going to be interesting to see how this club is..
Couple of months back, I posted an entry that a well know superclub from the United Kingdom, Ministry of Sound will be opening a new club in Kuala Lumpur. It's now open!
Check out their official website: http://www.euphoria.com.my. They put up contact details of the person in charge if you want to book a table or even the VIP table.
Some pictures of the place stolen from Peng's facebook. :P Thanks Penguin
Wow, designated smoking area. Does that mean no smoking in the club?

wooowwweeee, Mauro PIcotto! One of my favourite Hard NRG DJs!!! My favourite tracks would be:
"Iguana"
GAAAAHHH I WAN TO GOOO
"Komodo"
Both are relatively old songs..but brings back the good memories.
The newest track from Mauro Picotto is "Evribadi".
Timo Maas @ Poppy Garden
Timo Maas is one of the most well known DJs around the world - playing electronica, progressive trance and techno. Those who knew him would probably remember his remix of the song Azzido Da Bass' Doom's Night.
But it's unfortunate that this world class DJ will be spinning in Poppy Garden, a small club in Kuala Lumpur. I doubt there would be any place to dance.
And a night before election day!! What a bad day!!
Last one for this entry would be the Nuffnang Pajamas Party!

I met these guys when they came over to Kuala Lumpur to spin @ one countdown event in 2005 @ KLCC. This time they are back for another round of wicked dance music.
Acclaimed as one of the finest UK dance outfits of the past few years, Above & Beyond’s meteoric rise to the top of the global dance music scene continues unabated. As artists they’re constantly pushing at the boundaries of uplifting electronic music and reaping the rewards (and awards) in equal measure. They have steadily risen through the ranks of the world's best DJ's and now hold a ranking of 6th in the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ's poll.
Well, it's end of the year hence many events are popping up like mushrooms. www.xes.cx is proud to have organisers of Speedzone and Midzone Countdown 2008 to giving out free tickets.
Other than the aforementioned events, there are two (2) other events which caught my attention.
David Morales @ Poppy Garden, Kuala Lumpur
Date: 22.12.2007
Venue: Poppy Garden, 18-1, Jalan P.Ramlee, Kuala Lumpur.
It's been a while since I saw David Morales. I remember he had a gig at the old Emporium once. It was packed like a can of sardine.
Those who started off clubbing in the late 1990s and early 2000s would definitely heard of Movement KL. Movement is a club located in an old cinema along Jalan Bukit Bintang.
Those were the days where clubs were open until wee hours in the morning. I miss the times where my friend and I would take a break from the club and have drinks at the Chinese restaurant next to it. To those who didn't have the chance to visit Movement during its glory days, you've probably missed one of the most spacious clubs in Kuala Lumpur with excellent sound system and huge raves with international acts in the weekend. Superstar DJs such as DJ Sasha, John Digweed, Gatecrasher and Paul van Dyke once played in this superb club.
This club has probably revolutionized the dance culture in Malaysia.
Unfortunately, in January 2002, the club was destroyed in a fire. It is now a car park.
I remember there was one New Years eve where I spent the entire night up on a 15 feet speaker in Movement because the club was extremely packed. If I'm not mistaken, Josh Wink was spinning.
But now, gone were the days where we have to countdown in a sardine packed club. On 31 December 2007, one can head to The Boulevard @ Mid Valley City! MidZone Countdown 2008 is the MOST ANTICIPATED New Year Eve celebration in Kuala Lumpur. A FIRST to marry choreographed fireworks display with pulsating dance, and it is Fireworks Artistry at its Best !
Featuring a line-up of International DJs – DJ Stoneface & Terminal (Euphonic, Germany), DJ Matthew White (Hungary) and VJ SORT (Kagawa, Japan) and many more.
As stated earlier, www.xes.cx will be giving out ten (10) free tickets worth RM75 per ticket to five (5) of its readers. The mechanism of this contest is pretty simple - no need to count any bloody helmets.
First five (5) readers to post about MidZone Countdown 2008 on their own blogs and put up the MidZone Countdown 2008 logo on their side bars to link to www.ticketpro.com.my until 31 December 2007 and then trackback back to this entry post will stand the chance to win the tickets.
We will be monitoring the first 10 blogs to ensure that they actually are placing the Midzone logo till 31st Dec. If any blog found replacing the logo half way, then they will lose the chance to win the tickets. Also, this contest is only open to those who are 18 years old and above.
The html for the logo is: <a href="http://www.ticketpro.com.my"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2329/2104400269_11265500ac_m.jpg"></a>

SpeedZone Tour 2007 presents the scorching World Grand Prix Champions Party!
GP’s biggest party adds a new stop to celebrate 2007’s F1 and MotoGP Champions
Kuala Lumpur – Wednesday, 28 November 2007
Partygoers have a very special event to look forward to on 29th December as SpeedZone Tour includes a new addition to their 2007 calendar – a first-ever World Grand Prix Champions Party! In a scorching double celebration of team Ferrari’s and Ducati’s monumental F1 and MotoGP wins, Malaysia’s favourite hotspot, Zouk will set ablaze as SpeedZone showcases a very, special deejay, the 24-year old wunderkind JAMES ZABIELA.
A technical wizard and with a love of all things sci-fi, JAMES ZABIELA is at the forefront of new DJ/production talent smashing the glass ceiling of the global superstars. He's played to a room full of suited Japanese businessmen when showcasing Pioneer's latest equipment, in front of 60,000 people in South America and just about every imaginable situation in-between. And this time ZABIELA will be taking time off from his residency at Ibiza’s world famous club, Space and Pacha - New York, to make his very first stop of his Asian tour in Kuala Lumpur!
From the beginnings of winning a bedroom DJ competition to being recently awarded the ‘Best British DJ’ at the DJ Mag DJ Awards and ranked #17 in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ Poll, ZABIELA showcases a style, which is at the same time trippy, bleepy and downright groovy, with a few gnarly basslines thrown in for good measure. ZABIELA’s unique style has been recently borrowed by the likes of Jay-Z who famously integrated it into his signature sound.
Set to close the year 2007 in style, JAMES ZABIELA will blaze the night at SpeedZone as he plays a 3-hour set of truly nuclear proportions. Joining ZABIELA will be SpeedZone’s favourite DJ, Joey G of Channel [V] fame, who will set the pace for clubbers in his own patented way, showing why he’s the best at what he does as he creates the setting for a truly monstrous main set.
The fever of SpeedZone’s World Grand Prix Champions Party begins on 3 December 2007, as partygoers vie for the chance to win 500 FREE tickets by registering on www.speedzonetour.com. Alternatively, clubbers can come as early as possible to Zouk on 29th December from 9pm onwards, and purchase their ticket at the door for only RM40 (includes one complimentary drink).
IMPORTANT: The party is open to partygoers 21 and above ONLY; all ticket collections and purchases will be strictly dependant on the display of a valid photo ID.
The organiser of this event has given www.xes.cx 10 tickets for its readers. In order to win these tickets, kindly answer the question below.
How many helmets do you see in this picture?
-
To answer the above question, please leave a comment or send an email to www.xes.cx [at] gmail.com. The closing date for this contest is 22 December 2007. The first five (5) person with the correct answer will be entitled to two (2) free tickets each to Speedzone @ ZOUK!
[Note: You must be 21 years old and above to be eligible for this contest!]
When I was younger, I wanted to master b-bopping. In doing so, I downloaded numerous videos to learn their tricks. Unfortunately, such ambition ended when I ended up crashing into the ground when I tried to do a helicopter spin. GAAH I’M TOO FAT.
I also tried to learn the ‘caterpillar’ a move involving the movement of hands to feet in a continuous chain on the ground. It ended when it hurts like crap.
Anyway, there’s one bbopping competition held at the DiGi - Fu-Yoh! Street Blast party, an event with all sorts of activities to cater the younger crowd. This time is a little bit different, the public can participate in this event – with attractive prizes to be won.
This adrenaline pumping and physically challenging dance competition would be an excellent event to watch. In order to participate, one has to gather 5 people to form a team and then make a video of the team’s performance in MPEG/AVI/3GP format and send the same to digistreetblast@gmail.com with the subject Dance. The closing date is 31st October 2007.
I would highly recommend that the video be recorded in high resolution rather than using a crappy handphone. No judge would be able to judge your dance from a crappy low resolution video. To simplify this, DON’T USE YOUR HANDPHONE TO RECORD!!
Event Info

PvD is renowned as one of the hardest working artists, with sold-out tours that cross each continent, headline spots at every major festival, and a hugely successful recording career. Born in Eisenhuettenstadt, East Germany, Paul van Dyk grew up in communist East Berlin. Upon crossing the Berlin wall, the music bug quickly caught on and in the early 1990’s Paul van Dyk was spinning regularly at various clubs in Berlin before releasing his first album 45 RPM in 1994. But it wasn’t until the release of his second album Seven Ways which catapulted him into the Top 100, followed by the release of his hit single “For An Angel,” which began to earn him praise across the globe. By the time Paul van Dyk released Out There & Back in 2000, it became clear that the Berlin-based musician had far more to offer than his signature club sets and remixes that had already defined him as one of the most influential DJs and producers of all time. His first compilation mix CD Politics of Dancing was released in 2001, followed by Global in 2003 – a DVD which illustrates his own experiences traveling the world.
As a Grammy nominated artist and globally acclaimed DJ and Producer Paul van Dyk continues to dominate the electronic music charts and appears at the pinnacle of every Top DJ list across the globe. PvD, as his fans have nicknamed him, is currently ranked the World’s No. 1 DJ by DJ Magazine’s “Top 100 DJs poll” for the second consecutive year. His new original album 'In Between’ will be in stores August 2007.
This year he won the International Dance Music Award (IDMA) for Best Euro DJ. Previously, PvD won four IDMAs in 2006: Best Global DJ, Best NUNRG/Euro Track, Best Producer and Best Mix Compilation for The Politics fo Dancing 2. In 2005, PvD received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album for his original album Reflections. In addition, PvD was voted “America’s Favorite DJ” for 2004 and 2005 by BPM Magazine and was the big winner at the 2004 Dancestar Awards, taking home 3 awards: Best International DJ, Best Event and Best Music in a Commercial (Motorola). Paul van Dyk was voted "Best Music Maker" by DJ Magazine, received the “Best International DJ Award” at the 1999 Music wards in London, was named "Best International DJ" by Ministry of Sound Magazine, and Mixmag elected him as “Man of the Year”.
Aside from his musical activity, Paul van Dyk has always dedicated a significant part of his life to politics and social justice. He most recently received Berlin’s Medal of Honor (Landesverdienstorden) in recognition of his work with Ruckenwind, a partnership schceme with the German Red Cross that helps poor and disadvantaged children in Berlin. He joins a distinguished list of arts and political establishment figures with this honor.

As promised, information about Speedzone Tour 2007.
Come feel the heat for yourself on 7 April 2006 at the Tower Terrace of KL Tower, as three international DJ’s spin off the party of the season. Channel V’s DJ Joey G will get the party started, first timer to the Malaysian club scene, Dimas Carbajo, known better as D-Formation, takes the deck next.
One of the world’s most respected, highly sought after and certainly most popular DJ’s, D-Formation brings his unmistakeable Spanish-inspired house rhythms to Malaysian clubbers.
Tech trance fans are in for a treat, as Marco V’s easily recognisable and uplifting brand of music is set to prep the crowd for the magic of the next DJ – the unmistakable Yoji Biomehanika.
Undoubtedly the fastest rising DJ today, Yoji is also in Malaysia for the very first time and is bound to keep clubbers in and having fun right up till closing time. Fans of Speedzone will also recognise the artistic touches of 4YOUREYE, back to tease partygoers with their crowd-pumping visuals.
My favourite DJs for this event are no other than Marco V and Yoji Biooommeeehaanikkkaaaaaaa!!
Never heard of them? Check out their videos below (which I found on youtube.com):

As some may know, Ruums club will be closing for renovation. A new club will be opened soon. At the moment, it is unclear whether Hardsequance will be held there again.
A message from winrkis
Due to the new management deciding to do some renovations to Ruums, HS has decided it would be great timing for us to take a break [for how long, we're not sure]. That is NOT to say that HS is gone for good, i assure you we are definitely aren't goin anywhere! We're just resting momentarily.
So it would be great to see all our loyal HS supporters at Ruums this Saturday, 14 October night and let's show the club what HS is made up of!
p/s just kidding :P no way Msia would allow a bikini center fold.
p/p/s date edited by bimbobum. what la, xes... so sexcited! ;P
The following event is a charity event.

this event is targeting a sale of 250 tickets and more, at a price of RM25 each. ALL proceeds from the ticket sales will go to Sri Eden House of 30, Jalan 2/142, Taman Okid Desa, Cheras, 56000 Kuala Lumpur [tel:03-91004081/2]. For the love of Harddance!
Heineken Thirst Studio 06 is one of the biggest music competitions ever to hit Malaysia with the winner of Thirst Studio getting to produce and perform with some of the world's largest producers.
So it's fitting to have Groove Armada Soundsystem headlining this year's Thirst Studio celebrations. Heralded as one of the most exciting British dance acts of recent years, the group displays the stellar skills of Tom Findlay and Andy Cato. Being a constant TV presence, they make music that is both heart-thumping and superstylin'.
Groove Armada Soundsystem will be joined by Thailand's Futon, the electro-rock outfit that is massive in their home country and gathering a huge underground profile in Europe. Linking the worlds of dance and rock, Futon is a mix of pounding beats and anthemic choruses.
Thirst Studio is also proud to bring you some of the best Malaysian talent onstage alongside the international acts. H.U.M.P. is an exclusive performance by Thirst Studio judge and the UK's Defected Records collaborator Haze.
Support also comes from the winners of last year's Heineken Thirst winner Altered Image and their amazing mash up of visuals and beats, plus the Thirst 2004 winner Blink, recognized as Malaysia's leading breaks DJ and a regular overseas performer.
And of course, the winner of this year's Thirst Studio will also be performing their winning material making this the biggest Thirst ever and one you can't afford to miss.

Since the rave @ Melaka last month, there hasn't been any outdoor raves to date. Most events are now held in clubs.
Lately, the Malaysian government has been contemplating whether or not to extend the night spots' operating hours (from the usual 3am) so that to encourage tourism. I am totally against this. I foresee that the extension of night spots' operating hours would create more social problems such as drug abuse. Also, before the imposition of the 3am rule, I notice that clubs, after 3am, are not really in good shape. During that time, usually after 3am, the remaining crowd would be the druggies, males, and more males. Most of the chicks have gone home! Bloody sausage party.
But when it comes to outdoor raves, I give my 100% support that the operating hours extend beyond 3am!
P/S: I've been promoting so god damn many Bass Agents/Hardsequance on this web for damn long, how come I dont get a logo on their flyers ah? How come ah? How come?
Ruums, formally known as Warp (thereafter known as Channel), used to be THE ULTIMATE FENGTAU club. Mainly a Chinese triad dominated club, I feared for my life during my past 2 visits there. However, I heard that the management decided to turn the club around to change its fengtau image to compete with ZOUK KL. With the most popular local DJs, namely the Bass Agents and the Dark Ravers, they now face a challange changing this club's image.
Please give support to our local boys, long live hard dance!
The Germany 06 Kick Off Party at AFamosa Resort Melaka!
This time round, iv'N, gizzy, Sharon Dilirius and I will be heading there. Meeting Johnson & the rest there. Unfortunately, Sam is not going :s
As for Tay, he promised he'll be there. I highly DOUBT SO THOUGH. I told him that if he doesnt turn up, he wont be able to get laid for 4 years. YOU BETTER TURN UP TAY! OR NO SEX FOR 4 YEARS!!
And next week.. @ Melaka as well.

This Friday, an interesting performance by Analog Girl, a musician who plays music with her laptop, as well as singing.
Date: 28/04/06
Place: Terrace Bar, Zouk, 113 Jalan Ampang. KL
Between electro-pop, IDM (Intelligent Dance Music), trip hop and occasional references to the Bjork/Cocteau Twins, Singapore-based The Analog Girl is a musician that has brought her bedroom-made music across the world, playing venues from London, Paris, Tokyo and New York. Ironically, it has taken her a bit to get to these nearby shores, but she is due to take on the masses here next.
The Analog Girl, otherwise known as Mei Wong, finally makes her Kuala Lumpur debut at the Terrace Bar, Zouk KL this Friday.
This solo laptop-wielding performer is an inspired choice for the eclectic Heineken Music Lab series that also sees hometown deejays Ray Soo and DJ Blink performing either side of her headlining set. As an established name in the fringe music art gallery circuit across the causeway, The Analog Girl has done the big gigs and can count on notable appearances at music festivals like The Tesseract, Baybeats at The Esplanade, and Enroute – to name a few.
Singapore’s Analog Girl makes her Kuala Lumpur debut at the Terrace Bar, Zouk KL, on Friday.
More importantly, she is also possibly the most accessible option to attract a keen pop-centric following here, considering the Singapore avant garde music community has moved in leaps with highly experimental names like George Chua, Evan Tan, Snake Blood Union, Muon and The Observatory.
Armed with her debut album The TV Is On and the promise of new material, The Analog Girl’s live debut in KL is something to pique curious interest. Invites for the Music Lab series, starting 9pm this Friday, are available at (www.heinekenmusic.com.my).
Are all your compositions done on your Mac G4 Powerbook? Were any other external compositional devices used in the process, eg. USB keyboards?
All my latest tracks are done solely on my Powerbook. Even my keyboard is computer-based, as in I play the musical notes using my computer (QWERTY) keyboard.

ZOUKOUT!
wah, this chick si beh hot ah.
10 Dec 05 Siloso Beach, Sentosa - Singapore’s definitive and celebrated annual dance music festival ZoukOut continues its tradition of bringing Zouk’s spirit and energy to the great outdoors and an even wider audience. Five years have passed since the local dance music scene experienced its very first mega music festival; and with growing support from locals and visitors by the year, ZoukOut returns once again - reigning as the region’s most spectacular and talked about party in South East Asia!
ZoukOut will be staged at the newly upgraded Siloso Beach on Sentosa; where it was first held in 2000. For 12 hours from dusk till dawn (8pm – 8am); ZoukOut will transform the sandy landscape into a magical clubland with four stages featuring a broad spectrum of genres including house, tribal, progressive, techno, trance, electro, indie, hip hop and of course the very popular Mambo Jambo.
This year’s blockbuster line up features some of the biggest artists in the ever-growing field of electronic dance music today, including World Number #3 DJ Armin Van Buuren; Way Out West’s Nick Warren; Techno Wizard Sven Väth; Tribal house heroes Chus & Ceballos; House legend Lil’ Louie Vega of Masters At Work; Chart topping hit-maker Martin Solveig; Peter Kruder of Kruder and Dorfmeister fame, Stephane Pompougnac of the best-selling Hotel Costes CD series and pioneer of Hip Hop turntablism Cash Money. And in line with the healthy resurgence of alternative live music, ZoukOut hosts a live stage featuring local favourites like chart-topping Electrico & scene veterans Concave Scream, both with brand new material from their upcoming new albums; riot-rockin Ronin; the clown- rock jamboree that is Tiramisu; and new outfit, Slowjaxx Does Dallas made up of members from Stoned Revivals, Force Vomit and Moods.
Design collective Lichtfront VJ’s from Cologne Germany, will be responsible for the synchronized live visuals, their singular pursuit being the interpretation of sounds directly through images, reacting to the rhythms and feel of the music.
In addition to the stellar lineup of A-list foreign and local acts, there will be non-stop entertainment with free carnival rides, interactive action games, quirky palm & card readings, live art demonstrations, all amidst a plethora of 'out of this world' dancers & performers.
There will also be the return of ZoukOut’s partnership with the global festival of innovative moving image, RESFEST, for an exclusive screening of 90-minutes of the freshest cuts from this year’s stellar selection of features, short-films, motion graphics, animation and music videos from around the world as well as previously unscreened material.
And when it all seems too hectic, rejuvenating massages, make up and other goodies will be available to keep clubbers looking pristine at the coastline.
Cultural and language barriers aside, ZoukOut is THE dance festival that truly brings clubbers from all of Asia together under the common denominator of a feel-good, exuberant experience. It is this dynamism that has made ZoukOut the 'MUST GO' dance festival for tens of thousands of music fans from all over the region.

For Sydney-siders the Hard Kandy name may not be instantly familiar, but talk to any clubber from Melbourne who is serious about their hard dance and the name will illicit smiles galore. On Hard Kandy Episode 3, Scott Alert shares mixing duties with fellow resident Jeremy K, each DJ taking care of a disc, combining hard dance and hard trance just the way you like it. The duo turns up the tempo and hits the breaks on mild mannered tunes and shows Atmosphere a grittier and tougher tip.

Thirst III ambassadors revealed – Roger Sanchez and Steve Lawler
Kuala Lumpur, 15 February 2005: Heineken Music Thirst is back, but this time it is an unparalleled Global DJ competition. Launching in Indonesia in April, Thirst will push the boundaries of dance music with never-before-seen unique live sets and collaborations from some of the Worlds’ biggest names in dance music including Roger Sanchez and Steve Lawler, while continuing the Global search for fresh DJ talent.
Thirst will travel to 25 cities, resulting in four regional heats and culminating in the first ever Global Final in January 2006.
Picking up the reigns from previous Thirst DJs Paul Oakenfold and Tiësto, Roger Sanchez and Steve Lawler have both been appointed to lead the Heineken Thirst 2005 tour through its new global competition format.
Recently voted 'House DJ of the Year' Roger Sanchez's influence in the dance industry is testament to his multi-faceted approach to music which include his 'Release Yourself' compilation CD's, record label 'Stealth', club nights and a US and UK radio show. Following a sell-out date in Denmark for Thirst in June 2004, Roger has been signed as one of the 2 headline Thirst DJs for 2005 and will be supported on tour with exclusive live performances by his New York band. Roger states:
"I am particularly looking forward to the opportunity to tour cities with Thirst where my fans don't get to see me too often. I'm also especially pleased that we have created a very special and unique performance exclusively for Thirst. As everybody knows, I am all about encouraging new DJ and production talent, so giving it an extra push through Thirst will be very exciting".
Joining Roger for dates in Asia is dance maestro, Steve Lawler. A definitive DJ, producer and remixer, Steve is currently enjoying huge success with his recent Billboard US Number One remix of Dido’s hit single.
It's been a steady rise from the infamous 'motorway raves' of the early 90's, to his legendary sets at Mambo and Space in Ibiza, and his current triumph with the Lights Out tour / compilation concept in America and his Harlem Nights event at The End, London.
In addition, Steve also runs his own labels i.e. Harlem Records, Harlem Trax and Harlem Electric, signing only the finest underground tracks from across the world. His acute ear for a good tune will no doubt be at the forefront of the minds of this year’s Thirst finalists, when Steve acts as an international judge for Heineken Thirst 2005 across 6 Asian countries.
Steve says of Thirst: "I am delighted to be a part of Thirst, as it has managed to take the concept of the DJ talent search to a global level. Dance music has always been about embracing the new, and it's great that there is now a competition like Thirst to help fast-track DJs to a higher level."
Steve Lawler will also create the first ever-regional interactive clubbing concept exclusively for Heineken Thirst. Diving back into his expansive back catalogue, Steve will remix a classic dance track chosen through public voting which he will reveal exclusively at Thirst events throughout Asia this Spring.
Clubbers will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite track to be remixed from three all-time-classic tracks to dictate a future dance anthem. These tracks include JUNIOR VASQUEZ 'GET UR HANDS OFF MY MAN', DONNA SUMMER 'I FEEL LOVE' and JAYDEE 'PLASTIC DREAMS' (R&S). Clubbers will be able to log onto www.heinekenmusic.com/thirst from March onwards to cast their vote.
Since its beginning in 2002, over 250,000 clubbers have attended a Heineken Thirst event and over 7,000 aspiring DJs have entered the competition which has helped further the careers of over 50 DJs. Heineken Thirst gives local talented DJs the once in a lifetime opportunity to play alongside internationally renowned DJs, maximising their exposure and status.
Entrants for Heineken Thirst 2005 will be encouraged to be creative, by incorporating vocals and live elements where possible. Discovered via a series of local heats, 2 finalists will compete in front of a packed crowd at the main Thirst show, which also features a unique live set from both top international talents.
In addition to a range exclusive prizes and widespread National media attention, the winner is awarded automatic entry into a regional final where he / she will fight to win the prestigious title of best DJ in their region, with the chance to go on to compete in the Global Final.
Heineken Thirst Malaysia Semifinal will be taking place on Saturday, 16 April 2005 at Zouk, KL. Short listed contestants will then be narrowed down to 2 finalists, who will then perform at the Heineken Thirst Malaysia event on Saturday, 30 April 2005.
The showdown will take place at the Grand Stand, Sepang F1 circuit from 9pm onwards, where the overall winner will take home with him/her a grand prize of RM5, 000 and
a chance to attend one of the other Heineken Thirst events in another market.
To sweeten the deal, the overall winner will then represent Malaysia at one of the 3 regional Thirst Asia Semi-finals. Should he/she win the regional Thirst Asia Semi-final, he/she will then battle it out with 2 other contestants from the other semi-final venues at the Thirst Asia Final on 21 May 2005 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Information on how budding DJs can take part in this successful Global campaign can be found on www.heineken.com/malaysia.
Heineken Thirst will also be supported and promoted on www.heineken.com/malaysia throughout the year. This continually updated website provides information on all up and coming Thirst events, dedicated pages for Thirst winners, charts, exclusive mixes from the Thirst DJs and local winners, reviews of past events, latest dance music news and interviews, plus competition entry information.
About Heineken:
Heineken is undoubtedly The World’s No. 1 International Premium beer served in over 170 countries around the world since 1873. It is the leading imported beer brand in many European and Asian countries. Heineken is the popular choice among discerning drinkers around the world.
About GAB:

Listed on the Main Board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE), Guinness Anchor Berhad produces, markets and distributes Guinness, Tiger Beer, Heineken, Anchor Smooth Beer, Anchor Ice, Baron’s Strong Brew, Kilkenny, Anglia Shandy and Malta.
Joining Roger Sanchez on the revolutionary Thirst 05 Global tour are Lisa Pure, GTO and Freak.
Former MTV dancer and international singing sensation, Lisa Pure, provides the female element to Rogers band. “I’m over You” is the single that launched Lisa's career and enabled her to begin touring the U.S. She has had dance floor success with her vocals on Carl Kennedy’s “The Love You Bring Me” and is featured on various tracks on Roger’s album scheduled for release later this year. About to finish her debut album, Lisa is really looking forward to joining Roger on his inaugural Thirst tour.
GTO began his career in the early eighties working on classic rap tunes. His music is pure conscious ghetto funk, rekindling the legacy of James Brown and Isaac Hayes. Singing with a gritty voice that is pure and unmistakably soul, GTO adds an emotional and original feel to Rogers set. Lighting up stages for many years he is one of the original ‘smooth operators’.
Freak is a musical phenomenon. Playing a myriad of instruments including lead and rhythm guitar, violin and piano, he is also an accomplished producer and vocal coach, to name but a few of his staggering musical talents. He has contributed his talents to productions and remixes as diverse as Alica Keys “Butterflies” and No Doubts “Hella Good”.
A lot of thought and love has gone into making this band a unique live performance, one which will perfectly compliment Rogers set. Thirst aims to provide an experience that clubbers across the world will never have encountered before, one which will stay with them for years to come.
Malaysia Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said that the Government has cancelled all celebrations to usher in the New Year in view of the tsunami tragedy and has called on all parties, including the private sector, to instead hold prayers for the welfare of those affected
That means there would be no fireworks or parties.
Hence , the event that i was looking forward to...
