    Lifestyle

It’s been a while since I went to clubbing. But since the Miri boys, Chanok and Rin were in town, I decided to bring them to Zouk for Ferry Corsten’s set although I was down with food poisoning. I felt like I was having period during the entire night.

Many thanks to Sharon for bringing us in. If it was not for her, we would have to fork out RM50 per person. Unfortunately, for Amos and girlfriend Kimmy who came late, they had to fork out RM100 for entry.

    Furry Corsten!

Hairy Corsten’s set was just so-so. I’m not a big fan of trance and further I was a little bit disappointed with his set as he didn’t play his hard stuff. I love his music on his Hard NRG series. But then, I heard that his set got harder towards the end. I wonder how true is this.

Despite the mellow music, I got to meet up with some old friends. :D

First and foremost, I must thank Mr. Ma, one of the owners of Balcony, for the sponsoring us to Miri. Mr. Ma sponsored our air tickets, lodging and food!

I must also thank Kian and Shan Mei for bringing us around. Further, thank you Joanna, Rin, Hence (don’t know whether I got his name correct), Darren, Kynan and puhyah for their great hospitality. Also a big shout out to those people I met in Miri!

Balcony is one of the great clubs in Miri. It’s not the typical fengtau clubs. Mr. Ma has put a lot of effort trying to improve Balcony club to be on par with clubs in Kuala Lumpur. Their music ranges from Progressive House to Trance. Unfortunately, no Hard House for me.

Balcony has a few private rooms where patrons are able to sing their hearts out using their karaoke machines. Joanna booked a room and gathered her group of friends to celebrate her birthday. As expected, the birthday girl was drunk and couldn’t remember a lot of things. She even missed the best part, where the entire club sang Happy Birthday to her!

Drunk Birthday girl, Joanna & Drunk Me.

Balcony also has a great range of liquor as well. They even have Hoegaarden!!

Rin was the hustler of the night. Every 5 minutes he would come to me and say, “Let’s get some drinks mannnnn”. Rather than shuffling on the dance floor, Rin and I were drowning ourselves with alcohol. Darren, Rin and I shared a B-52 and then followed up with Hoegaarden. There goes my night, half drunk and half tired.

    B-52..looks like Flaming Lambo..

Amos, Jordan and Ryan were the performing shufflers from KL. Those superstars were surrounded by Mirians. They were also joined by a few Mirian Shufflers.

Good evening Tun-tun, Tan Sri-Tan Sri, Datuk-Datuk, Ladies and Gentlemen, the Bass Agents & the Dark Raverz proudly present:

Glow Dance Club is one of the newest clubs in Kuala Lumpur.

Couple weeks back, I went to check out Glow Dance Club @ Kuala Lumpur. The Bass Agents were spinning.

The crowd in Glow is predominantly Shufflers. Hence, one can see loads of shuffling action going on. Great place to learn shuffle as well.

Another unique thing about the club is the arch in front of the club.

    DarkRavers & Bass Agents

    It was awesome!!!!!!!!!!

The beat was hard and fast. The dance floor almost went crazy! Farrrr muccchhhh betterrr than PD rave...

Darren, fellow blogger from Miri is down in KL. Sharon and I picked him up at Sg Wang before meeting Big Ben, Sui Lin, Liz, Wen Hui and Calene @ Cream.

    The crowd

    Me, Jon & Big Ben

The girls..dont ask me why they have the same handsign..

Initially Sharon and I were stuck in a jam for half an hour. Darren had to wait for quite some time for us to come. When we were about to reach…I said, “I think it's easy to spot him.. he’s the only guy on the streets with phat pants”. It’s true. We got hold of him within few seconds....

    Darren..he's taller than I thought...

Cream's service was satisfying as well. Staff were very, very polite and efficient...unlike Atmosphere Club, *ptui* Unfortunately, Darren was told off for talking pictures. wtf?

Since girls get in free before 11PM, there were loads of girls. For once, it wasnt a sausage party.

    Christina endorses this event!

Overall, it was awesome. I hope they'll have another Hardsequance again :D

Check out the POWAH of Melbourne shuffle.

The time has come for this long anticipated rave.

The place was huge. It has 2 rooms and also a Ferris wheel smacked in the middle. Sound system was mediocre and there was a little bit of overlapping between the 2 rooms. It was some sort on the beach..without the seashore though.

It was disappointing. There are soooo many things I want to complain about this rave.

Our phone lines were jammed (probably due to overflow of traffic) and since the place was huge, we spent half of our time looking for friends. I came with Sam, Ivan, Kelynn and Big Ben. Big Ben was no where to be seen right after he was swallowed by the sea of people. It took us an hour plus to meet up with Ping, Hen, Kiang, Sharon, Sui Lin and Cris.

Big Ben & Joyce - minutes before they were swallowed by the sea of people.

There were not enough toilets as well. People had to line up for quite some time just to use the toilet. Ivan and I didn’t bother lining up and ended up watering some plants behind the toilet. We weren’t the only ones though O_O

Parking was shit as well. But we found a nice spot at a golf course, just opposite the entrance to the rave. So while disembarking, a guard suddenly screamed,

WOI!!! INI GOLF COURSE!! TAK BOLEH PARK KERETA!! APA NI PARK KERETA SINI” (WOI THIS IS A GOLF COURSE. YOU CANT PARK YOUR CAR HERE! WTF!!!)

It seems that we drove into the golf course using a walkway, ran over their dividers and parked on their green. Ops..

The place was packed, packed and packed!. The music was so-so. Johan Gielen’s set was disappointing, it was not as good as the one he played last year. As for Scott Project, damn.. it was so-so as well. They played the usual stuff…..mega mega white thingg…

    The girls..

Sharon, Sui Lin, Me (Showing my disapproval towards the rave) & Ping

These 2 girls were dancing seductively on the stage. They managed to attract a huge crowd and also posed for pictures. I wonder if they were paid for doing that.

However, there was a mixture of all sorts of clubbers and ravers from all over Malaysia. I bumped into fellow reader, PaKaP from Johor and his friends but lost him after that.

We had to walk quite a bit when returning to our cars. While walking, a car was behind us. He pressed the horn loudly…and someone in the car screamed, “WOI!! GET OFF THE WAY. HAM KA CHAN (WHOLE FAMILY DIE)!!”

Definitely clubbers from an ahbeng village in Malaysia!!!!!!!

We left about 4am. I left with Kiang, Ping and Hen. Big Ben was still no where to be seen.

Damn, this rave sucked. I feel so damn TAK PUAS!! (NOT SATISFIED!)

    They were excellent!! Absolutely amazing!

Their set was hard and what made it more unique is that they change tracks every 2 – 3 minutes.

The duo, brothers Scott and Matt Harris, have great showmanship as well. They dance, jumped around and played with the crowd throughout their entire set.

Scott and Matt Harris, also known as Organ Donors.

The event was also like a mini reunion for us old ravers. Those were the days where we would hang out at raves till early in the morning. Now everyone is too busy with their own lives.

Unfortunately, the beginning of the night didn’t start well for us. We were hoping for free entry (9 of us) and we already had the sources to do so i.e. invitation SMS and guest list. However, the SMS invitation ended on 11:30PM. We were few minutes late. Then as for my guest list (many thanks to Jose), it was closed as well!! ARGH!

Fortunately, Edwin settled the matter for us. This wasn’t the end though. While taking pictures/videos of Organ Donors….

Bouncer: HOI NO PICTURES IN THE CLUB. KEEP IT AND PUT IT IN YOUR CAR NOW!!
    Me: O_O!!!

Is this the kind of service we customers deserve?? Where is the courtesy we deserve, man.

But nonetheless, here are 2 videos. Nothing much, just to show how is it like.

    http://www.xes.cx/download/organdonors-1-www.xes.cx.zip

    http://www.xes.cx/download/organdonors-1-www.xes.cx.zip

Since everything didn’t went well, I was about to plot an anti-Atmosphere club movement. But thank god Organ Donors played a great set, otherwise I would have publicly denounce my support for Atmosphere club. We should thank them for bringing in such awesome DJs.

The club was nice enough to allow Organ Donors play one last track before the night ended. Loads of people swarmed towards the Organ Donors for autograph right after their set.

I hope they'll come back again!

    Great event!

I wish we had this kind of event when I was still active. Last time we had to struggle for good music but now it seems that our dream has came true...but a little bit late though.

    Superstar Hayden & I

I was wrong. I predicted that the events going to be one big sausage party. However, the amount of girls was abundant. Ahhh..

Hayden: What do you think of Glow 2 in comparison with Glow 1?
Me: I think there are more girls this time. Not a sausage party anymore.
Hayden: YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!!!! (Sorry Katie :D)

The music was great. But Bass Agent’s set was not what I expected. I was expecting some hard core stuff but in fact they played trance all the way. I heard they played those songs to build up for Soul T. :(

Here are some videos from yesterday. Nothing great. Just a video of the dance floor.

    Pre-Glow 2

I dropped by Forum to check out Glow 2...

I was there at about 2PM and many people were there already. Everyone seems to be well dressed for it. I was dressed in shorts and slippers. How awkward.

Hayden's been very busy. He's been giving out interview to all sorts of media, i.e. JUICE magazine, FHM magazine, Channel V and so on. He's a super star now! hehe

Here's a sneak preview of the place. See you guys there tonight!

Ping, Kiang, Hen, Sam, Big Ben, Johnson and the rest went for Sepang Regenerate Redzone featuring Eddie Halliwell, Felix da HouseCat, Adam Freeland, Romel and Ben Katana.

Covercharge was dirt cheap! Only RM25 for presale!! (before 11PM). The settings were very nice too. They had games, 3D movie at a huge igloo, great lighting and cooling as well. Thumbs up to the Regenerate crew.

Big Ben sitting in the drain..LOL

However, music was CRAP, CRAP and CRAP. Adam Freeland played break beats (not my favourite) and proceeded to some remixed ROCK MUSIC. WHAT THE FUCK. HE TURNED THE BLOODY RAVE INTO A CONCERT. Further the DJs kept on playing Blur – Song 2 for 3 or 4 times. I cant believe some people actually enjoyed it! Hen said he felt like he’s in the Force of Nature Tsunami fund concert.

Click here to see the bloody video

But our main purpose for the rave is to hear Eddie Halliwell’s set. It was good but some people were pissed off with Tabla Maniam for messing up the tracks. I personally think that Tabla Maniam’s drums made the set better.

Click here to see Eddie Halliwell & Tabla Maniam in action

Unfortunately, Eddie Halliwell’s set lasted barely 1 hour. If more time had been allocated to him, he would have played a better set.

Click here to see some shuffling action (dark)

Furthermore, the night was spoilt by the police. They were randomly checking patrons for drug abuse in the toilet. I hope those who were caught are alright now. Under the Malaysia’s Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, any possession of drugs without permission will be punished as follows:-

Fine not exceeding RM20000 or imprisonment not exceeding 5 years or to both.
Less than 2gm in weight of heroin/morphine
Less than 5gm in weight of Methamphetamine/Amphetamine (Speed/Smack)
Less than 20gm in weight cannabis

Imprisonment not less than 2 years up to 5 years.
Between 5 gm or more but less than 30 gm in weight of Methamphetamine/Amphetamine
Between 2gm & less than 5gm in weight of heroin/morphine
      20 gm or more but less than 50 gm in weight cannabis;

Imprisonment not less than 5 years up to life and 10 strokes of cane.
Between 5gm & less than 15gm in weight of heroin/morphine
Between 50 gm & less than 250gm in weight of cannabis
30 gm or more in weight of Methamphetamine/Amphetamine (Speed/Smack)

      Death
For possession exceeding the amount below, there is a presumption of trafficking which carries the death penalty.
15 grammes or more in weight of heroin/morphine
200 grammes or more in weight of cannabis
50 grammes or more in weight of Methamphetamine/Amphetamine (Speed/Smack)

I'm not sure how heavy is a pill. Can anyone enlighten us about this? sixthseal?

Once a person is arrested, he must be produced before a magistrate within 24 hours. However, if the following day is a public holiday, the arrestee will be produced before a magistrate the day after the public holiday. However, the arrestee may be bailed out provided that the offence is not punishable with death or a remand order has been issued against the person. Hope this helps.

In brief, the article critisized the Zoukfest event as it is immoral and against Islam teaching. However, there is no indication that the Pahang Islam Department will conduct a check on Muslim party goers. The dumbass president of the Malaysian Islamic Student Society urged the Islam Department to conduct a check up on Muslim partygoers. How dumb? Soon Long's Farewell.

    February 27, 2005

    xes

Since sLoonG is leaving for Perth, we held a small gathering in honour of that occasion.

It was at Rum Jungle. Rum Jungle is one of the new clubs in town. Its interior is nice, huge and loads of space. Music wise, they play trance, r&b, rock songs and so on. It somehow caters for all sorts of clubbers. The pub has an army of liquor girls. Their job is to woo people into purchasing liquor bottles. I think the liquor girls get a cut from the liquor we purchase.

    Park Shuffle @ BU Park

    January 15, 2005

    xes

Since the organizers were afraid that too many people will turn up which would lead to the place being shut down by the police, the organizers decided to move it to a day earlier. Secretly of course. However, despite the secrecy, the turnout was huge!

The place was powered with a hi-fi, 2 speakers, AMP, Ipod and also a CD player! It got loads of people on the dance floor!

Since the venue was an open space park, we were pretty worried that the cops might raid the place. Whenever the music stops, usually when someone wants to change the track, everyone would think that the place has been raided.

The qualities of Malaysian shufflers were good. According to Hayden, it’s as good as those back in Melbourne!

The event ended about 12AM, loads of people headed for 2nd round. I on the other hand headed home to sleep. Working life is sucking all my energy…

Overall the event was awesome. Good crowd, good music, free drinks (due to potluck) and open air!! Hope another would come soon!

If anyone has any videos to share, I'll be glad to host it!

    Fengtau updates

    January 12, 2005

    xes

The long awaited Park Shuffle has been postponed till further notice. This was due to the fact that many people may turn up. Since the Malaysian government has low tolerance towards unlicensed gatherings, this would be a huge risk for everyone. The organizers tried to make it into a closed event but the news of the event spread like wildfire. Even Cris's 16 years old brother heard about it!!

Further, there seems to be a confusion between Park Shuffle and another rave which would be held in another park. The other event is a free Garden Rave Party at Jalan Desa Maju, Tamam Desa. At that Garden rave, free food and shutter service will be provided. Well, in Park Shuffle, invitees would have to bring food and drinks to be shared among everyone.

Oh well. Anyway, this Friday!! TECHNO!!

    Regenerate @ Espanda

    January 2, 2005

    xes

Hen, Umeng, Jennifer, YK, WK, Lin, Jin Han, Yming, Peng, me and others planned to party again. Our initial target was Atmosphere since it has been almost a year since we went there.

We were greeted by a bunch of muscular men, mostly dressed in sleeveless tops, outside Atmosphere. They were collecting donations for the Tsunami victims. Soon we realised that they were gay men. As I was waiting for the others to reach, one of the organizers came up to me. He wanted me to fill in a questionnaire.

After I filled up the questionnaire, I said,

“Forgive me for being rude, is this a gay oriented party?”
    “Yes, it is”, he replied.
“I see, how often will you hold this event here?”
    “Hopefully once every 2 weeks”

Then out of no where, Ping said,
“ooooohhh main buntot ohhh, syokkkk...” (oooooohhh play ass…feels goooodd)

    I went O_O

I whispered to Ping, “WOI SHUT UP”

Instead of keeping quiet, he added, “manyak sakit ohhhhhhhh” (very painful ooooohhh)

Unknown to him, the questionnaire guy was actually gay. Ping had no place to hide his face.

Since the sight of sweaty gay men doing the ‘sotong’ dance isn’t very appealing to us, we headed to Regenerate @ Espanda. We struck a deal with the bouncer to open 2 bottles of whisky for 11 people (limit is 4 per bottle). However, we weren’t entitled to all the re-entry tag and the bloody bouncer wanted us to get him a pack of cigarettes in return for the remaining entry tag. We fuck him no time ah!!

Espanda wasn’t packed at all. I guess Regenerate missed their chance on a huge profit after the initial KL Tower rave that was cancelled. The crowd was so-so. The music was so-so. The whole event was so-so.

    P0ppy Garden, Kuala Lumpur

    October 25, 2004

    xes

Poppy Garden, located below Passion is one of the hottest nightspot in town and a house of ill repute.

Where else can you find a girl grinding her thighs on a guy's groin in public?

Well, overall Poppy Garden is a place to be. Great crowd, good music and less alcohol overdosed ladies and men puking all over the place.

There were plenty of girls too. So many until I went home smelling of girl's perfume. If I have a wife at home, she would have beaten me up.

ivN gathered couple of his friends for a drinking session there. First, it was only couple of beers. Then a bottle of whisky came. Everyone managed to finish the bottle. After that, it was an alcohol-fuelled party.

It was fun getting to know some new people there. However, due to the loud music, we had hard time hearing what other people were saying. Ping had one of his moments with a girl..

Natalie: Hi I didn't get your name!
    Ping: I'm Ping.
    (Loud music)
    Natalie: What? Bitch?
    Ping: .......
ivN: His name is Ping la, not Bitch.
    Natalie: oh so sorry!!

Actually they were sharing a drink...

PassedOutBen was in action again. He passed out on the sofa for half an hour. Too bad we didn't have cream or a marker pen.

No doubt I enjoyed the place even though they played R&B. I'll give the place 8/10!

    Clubbing in Kuala Lumpur

    October 20, 2004

    xes

If you want to know about tops clubs in Kuala Lumpur, here's a good article written by Jimmie Wing. I got this from ivN

    http://www.mondiale.co.uk/mondodr/KLreport.html

Unfortunately, the author left out some negative aspect of those clubs. I think it would be better if I include them here.

    Zouk

Singapore attempt to influence the dance culture of Malaysia. Photography is strictly prohibited. Anyone who attempts to take pictures after being warned will be kicked out.

Plays a mixture of progressive house, breakbeats, trance etc. Look out for the hot cigarette girls.

    Atmosphere

Top club filled with young clubbers. Plays a mixture of progressive house, breakbeats and trance. Melbourne shufflers and robot shufflers are abundant here.

However, be aware of drunk blokes who pick fights or alcohol overdosed young ladies who pukes all over the place.

    Espanda

Formally known and fondly known as Emporium. It was once the most popular club in Malaysia but now it has lost its magic due to the advent of new clubs.

    Beach Club
Next to Espanda. Foreigner's (especially white men) favourite night spot. Beware of terrorist attack.

    Nouvo

Well known for its smelly cushions.

    Warp Dance Club

Crowd is predominantly Chinese with triads background. Do not attempt to pick up girls. Any attempt would result in you being publicly assaulted.

Excellent sound system. Plays hard thumping Canto dance music. Patron's favourite dance is fengtau (shake head).

    Liquid

It's a gay club. If you're straight, dont bother.

Anyone has more to add? :D

    Regenerate @ Sepang

    October 10, 2004

    xes

Based 50 kilometres away from the city centre, the rave had its ample share of space, plenty of room to dance and mediocre sound system.

Music was a little bit crappy in the beginning. It gradually became better as soon as Christopher Lawrence hit the decks.

Shout outs to those who came up to me regarding my website. Nice meeting you guys!

However, someone mistaken ivN for me. I think he even took a picture with him! Anyway, nice meeting you dude!

The rave ended at 5AM, not 3AM as provided in the klue forum. Anne Savage’s hard pumping hard house was good. However, by then, everyone has either left or too tired to dance. There were rumours flying around that police were blockading the roads for urine test and random urine test at the toilets. Some of my friends had to hold their piss for hours!

Ok, let the pictures speak for itself. (I decided to be a copycat and follow Joyce & yishy's designs :D Theirs are obviously 9999x better. credits to them :D)

    Videos
Shuffling videos were impossible as the venue was too dark. However, here are 2 not-so-interesting videos.
    Anne Savage & Tabla Maniam
    Fireworks

More pics can be seen @ eraine's and ivN's website.

    Sven Vath @ ZOUK KL

    September 11, 2004

    xes

The gang decided to feng at Zouk KL today.

Sven Vath, a well-known techno DJ was spinning.

    It was horrible.

It was supposed to be a 5 hours set but he came late. Then he started with some cheesy shit music. At one point, we went up to him with a sentence on a PDA saying, "HARDER! TECH!!".

Well he did play techno after that. No doubt it was good but half an hour later, he mellowed it down and started playing cheesy shits.

Further, Zouk KL has this stupid policy. Photography is not allowed in the club. A club is a place where friends gather and have fun. Im sure everybody wouldn't mind piece of their memory to be recorded. Unfortunately, Zouk KL doesn't share the same concept. BOYCOTT ZOUK!!

I had a little embarrassing moment there as well. While parking my car, the attendant was guiding me.

He said, ok ok go on go on, plenty of space.

I followed his orders but suddenly I froze.

He repeated again, go go go, plenty of space.

I froze again. I was staring at something in front of me. The attendant looked at me and froze as well. He then turned at the thing I was looking and starting laughing.

Well, the sight of 3 hot chicks coming out from a BMW caught every bit of my attention. hehe

    Oh yeah lastly,

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEDIUM SIZE BEN!!

Well, no silly pictures of you this year (unlike last year). May all your wish come true and get a job ASAP!!

    Salem Genting Rave 2004

    August 1, 2004

    xes

    VIDEOS
    FROM http://zestkith.com @ http://zestkith.com/Upload/johan.avi (48mb right click to save)
A sneak peak of the videos Umeng recorded.

    More coming soon!

    Johan Gielen is GOD.

He played a god damn uplifting set!!!

The event ended about 4AM, not 6AM as we expected. As Johan Gielen was about to leave, everyone shouted for more. Unfortunately, he only gave in twice. He ended his set with a speech along the lines, In 24 hours I will be in Spain, but my heart will be in Malaysia!

The venue was the same as the one last year. But this year, it was madness. It was the first time I see a sardine packed out door rave. 12,000 PEOPLE OMG!! I was like a stupid pinball, being pushed around from left to right. It was packed from the beginning till the end of the dance floor!!

The 6 Melbourne Shufflers from Melbourne were great. Initially, they were separated into 6 designated podiums to dance. At the end of the night, they dance on the stage.

It didnt rain but yet still cold. Despite the cold weather, it didnt stop some girls from wearing bikini tops :D~~~

There werent any free ciggies as told before the rave. However, they gave out a free pouch. I didnt bother to redeem it.

Well worth my RM35. Can't wait for the next Genting Rave next year!

    Salem Genting rave

    July 22, 2004

    xes

    I'm going!!!

Tickets are available at Excessive Records, KL and HP Towers, Bukit Damansara.
Ok, one last story before I wrap up the final chapter of the chronicles from Br1ckf1eld's college.

My friend, A told me a story about another weird classmate of ours. Some guy (Let’s call him K), probably at his late 20s, who re-sat CLP for 4 times and does loads of weird poses when studying (ie the marvelous left on back of his head and right hand on his waist visa versa).

One day, A went dinner with him and another friend. A and K ordered fried noodles. While eating..

K: wah..so hot so hot so hoootttt.. slurp slurp slurp..
    A and friend looks.

    K: argh..

He stood up, went to the restaurant’s kitchen and got himself a cup of ice. He then pours the ice on to his fried noodles and started eating…and yes..he finished the entire plate of noodles..even the cup of ice he poured on the noodles.. .

After Don’s set, I headed straight to Bengsar to attend Jin Han’s birthday bash @ Delaw1. The pub was totally empty. My friends were the only patron. Jin Han was fucked by the time I reached there. The others were pretty fucked as well but went on playing drinking games.

Hen, Kiang and Jin Han were eating lok-lok AKA “boiling saliva” outside Delawi. I’m not a fan of lok-lok due to its low standard of hygiene. However, since it’s Jin Han’s birthday I decided to grab a crab stick and dumped it into the boiling saliva (water). Few minutes later…

Me: FUCK.. my crab stick is wrapped with plastic!! (I forgot to remove the plastic cover of the crab stick)
Hen, Kiang & Jin Han: hAhaHAHhaHAHAHhahAhhahHAhAhh
Hen: This is Malaysia boyyy..not Englandd..not Australiaaaaa

    Gatecrasher 2004

    June 20, 2004

    xes

Gatecrasher was awesome! The music was fantastic and the venue was great as well (Sepang F1 International Circuit)! However. it didn’t start of well though. Those people who came early had to wait for hours for the gates to be opened (it opened at 12:30AM. Some poor souls came at 1030PM). We had to wait for an hour for the gates to open. I heard that they entire thing was delayed cause the DJs’ flight to Kuala Lumpur was delayed.

The event was a little bit underground too. We had problem locating the place and there were no signboards to guide us. I had to call Wookookoo for directions. Probably the purpose of not putting any signboards was to prevent police raids :D

I danced till my soles hurts. Thanks to the blisters I had from 3 hours of futsal last night. Fortunately, we managed to last till 5:30AM in the morning :D I heard the event lasted till 7:40AM. Madness…

    Ferry Corsten

    May 15, 2004

    xes

I finally went to Zouk. Nice place, huge dance floor and great air condition. Further, no stupid long queues. Toilets were clean too ^_^

Ferry Corsten was good. He played an uplifting trance set which was danceable. However, what pisses me off is that, there were rumours of raid flying around. Apparently, another club, Atmosphere was raided by police hence the news spread over to Zouk. It?s kinda scary when you see a bunch of people rushing out from the club. Fortunately, there was no raid. The set lasted till 3AM.

However, most of us didn?t dare to go back inside as we were afraid that we?ll be locked in. We spent the remaining 45 minutes outside the club. God damn it.

    Pictures from Don!

    I gotta put this picture.

Medium size Ben (formally known as Big Ben but degraded to Medium size after losing 22KG) and Me.

    Bukit Tinggi rave

    April 25, 2004

    xes

    Bukit Tinggi Rave

It was an exclusive invite only party held at a mountain resort.

It all started off smoothly. Cool open air shutter bus and everyone cheered as we reached the entrance. We were all hyped up and excited as we were waiting to get in..

As we entered the main concourse, someone shouted, “WAH LAO WEHH!!”. That’s an expression of excitement in Hokkien. No doubt, it gave us a very good impression.

There were waiters and waitresses were serving finger food such as sushi and chicken nuggets. Further, there were giving out free alcoholic drinks!

There was a chill out section with bean bags and even a self made garden. Even though it’s common overseas, it’s a rare thing in Malaysia.

Dance floor was spacious and the crowd was good. Girls with skimpy clothes were abundant. Lovely..

Music was fine in the beginning but as soon as NuBreed took over the stage, hell was set loose.

I personally hated the music and most of my friends hated it as well. They were spinning break beats and progressive house. They’re fine but not when you add vocals to it. It wasn’t a rave at all, it was more like a fucking concert.

NuBreed: Give me some noise KL!!
    Crowd: Silence…
    NuBreed: I don’t hear anything!!
Someone among the crowd: FUCK OFFF!!!

The entire rave sucked. Music was terrible.

It wasn't worth skipping my early Sunday class for it.. I should stayed home and slept early!!

To those who were there, what do you think about the rave? :D

    Tiesto @ Zouk

    April 11, 2004

    xes

NO MORE CLUBBING. NO MORE CLUBBING FOR ME!!

Okay Zouk was crazy. I was there at 930PM, and the entire place was packed with people (I'm only referring to the compound outside Zouk!). The ticket queue was crazy. It was so long till it circled half of Zouk's premise.

I was trying to get some friends who were in front of the line to get the tickets for me. But it would be RM60 by the time they get to the ticket counter. Mary had friends who were selling RM60 tickets elsewhere minus the queue. But the amount of people turned me off. Imagine 2000 people squeezed into one small box. Getting in was no problem as we had an easy way to get tickets but the fact that thousands of people squeezing in a small club is absolutely crazy.

So the rest of us adjourned to Atmosphere, thinking that the place would be empty. It was empty initially but after a while it went crazy. All the 'Tiesto rejects' (those who didn?t make it to Zouk) were there and the place was pack like a can of sardines. So I was one corner chatting with friends until something shitty happen. As usual loads of people were walking up and down but suddenly I felt something warm on my hands. I thought somebody spilled water on me but instead, a drunk chick vomited on my hands. GOD DAMN IT!!!!

well, I immediately wiped it off, not much damage. But the chick vomited on Hen's legs too :D

There were couple of funny sights though. While Choon and I were talking, a group of guys were happily drinking behind us. They even offered Kiang and PS their drinks. Half an hour later, all of them were drunk. Couple of them fell down on to the floor. Another dude vomited (lets call him puking dude) on another drunken dude sitting next to him and the best part is, the other drunken dude was unconscious hence he had puke all over his legs. Oh yeah, after that, both puking dude and drunken dude were sitting side by side holding hands. Maybe both of them think that they were holding hands with a girl..

Oh yeah at 12AM, I messaged Him asking him how Zouk was. He said, 'Boring until kukuciao (penis)drop. Tiesto no where to be seen..all ciplak dj..over'. Then an hour later he reported to me again. He said there place was super crowded and many people couldn't get into Zouk. Apparently the amount of people inside was limited to 2000 people. Even those with tickets couldn't get in.

Anyway, the next big event to look forward to is.. (got this from Edwin who works for BAT)

KENT Rave on 24th April @ Bukit Tinggi (over an hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur City centre and lies some 2,500 feet above sea level)

a 9hours set! by NuBreed, StereoMovers & Mara

      Confirmed party till 6am!!

Sigh... too bad it's for invites only...

    KL Tower Rave

    March 20, 2004

    xes

    Tonight!

    Regenerate Red Zone

    KL Tower, KL

    RM30 + 1 drink
First 300 to enter between 7.30 and 9.00pm get in free

Be sure to catch regenerate in action once more as Tempo brings you Fergie, Timo Maas, and Ashley Casselle, along with local jocks Jungle Jerry and Eugene.

    http://www.redzone.com.my/

Fon, glo and the Penang gang came all the way down for the KL tower rave. Fon said, “Bring chickies ya”. Unfortunately, I didn’t know any of my female friends were there so I told him that all my friends were guys. In reply, Fon said, “Alamaks.. My side oso banana plantation from Penang”.

The rave was held on the base of KL Tower, the fourth tallest telecommunication tower in the world (it was not held on top of the tower. We would be dead if they had it on top of the tower).

We had to take a shutter bus provided by the organizers up to the tower as parking weren’t allowed on top of the hill (KL tower is located on top of a hill)

Most of us were hoping to get in free of charge as the first 300 gets in free till 9PM. However, when I was there at 8:30PM, there were already 2000 people ahead of me. Fortunately, the cover charge was cheap. Only RM30!! 3 international DJs for RM30, that makes RM10 per DJ! Worth it wei!!

The event started off in a mellow tune as they were playing some housey tune. I personally didn’t like it (but some may differ). However, the dance floor was packed, so packed till it feels like a long journey to walk from the entrance of the dance floor to the DJ console. PS, Kiang, Ivan and I tried walking towards the DJ console but failed miserably as it was pack like sardines and hot like sauna.

And another good thing that makes our RM30 worth it is the firework display. It was spectacular. It started off with some twirly firework that looks like it was hitting the ground. Everyone started running for cover but the firework was actually tried to a string.

The fireworks display went on for 10 minutes. Great display!

The event ended at 3AM. Everyone shouted for more but we left before everyone starts jamming up the shutter bus home.

Pictures of all the stupid clubbing scene and all the ahbengs will be up soon :D

    reinforce 3!

    March 14, 2004

    xes

CHAU HAIIIII!! POTONG STIM POTONG STIM!!

Reinforce 3 was raided!! Well, not exactly! I was informed that police will raid the place by 3AM, hence the rest of us headed back to our cars, messaging people to tell them to leave ASAP. However, by 3AM, the music stopped. Everyone went home. How frustrating is that??? What a shame! One of the most anticipated rave has to shut down by 3AM. This is a huge blow to Malaysia nightlife man..

Well, overall, if its not for the early closure, this rave is fucking good. It drizzled at first but as soon as the rain stopped, everyone hit the dance floor. As for the shuffling board, it’s not as big as I expected it to be. It’s just a few planks of wood. Further, it’s worth mentioning that the whole arena is huge. It’s actually an equestrian park as big as 10 football fields. The main entrance from the main area was fucking far. I guess it would be as far as 3 football fields!

Brian Burger did the opening and was replaced with Uncle Maverick who donned a collar t-shirt with a fish shaped tie plus a huge framed spectacle and not to mention, flatten hairstyle ala Clark Kent! He opened his set with Superman’s theme song.

At 1AM, Richie Rich was next. I didn’t like it cause his songs tends to be a little bit monotonous but no doubt it was hard. Further, they hired some dancers to perform on stage. We felt bored as the dancers took our dancing spot.

Feeling bored, Ivan, Melyn, Umeng and I went out from the arena to chill. Ivan wanted to take a dump so we intruded a stable nearby. The horses’ eyes were covered with a cloth. No idea why. The toilet was clean though. It was like a 5 star toilet. First time in my life, I went to a clean toilet during raves.

And as for Space DJz, ohhh my gooodddd..he is the mannnnnnnnnnn…lovely beatssss.. very Melbournerish.. However, his set lasted a mere 45 minutes. I was fucking pisseddddddd…GAHHH..it was too good to be missed..GAAAHHHH..

I heard that the owner complained about the music. Apparently his horses were disturbed by the loud music.

I ended the night at Spicy Kitchen with the gang. The rest of the gang headed down to Bar Code for second round.

ALL PICTURES TAKEN FROM UMENG'S CAMERA :D

    Bar amber raided

    March 7, 2004

    xes

After numerous phone calls, Umeng, Ivan and I headed down to Hartamas for Foosball. We dropped by Bar Amber to meet up with Lynnzter, Wookookoo and Tracy. They were having a monthly residency called ?I?m special? by Bad Boy Ben and Odin.

The place wasn?t as pack as the previous I?m Special event but there were familiar faces. Ivan was wearing shorts and slippers hence he felt pretty out of place. I on the other hand, am not a fan of funky house music. So Umeng, Ivan and I left early for foosball @ Breakers.

Lynn was urging us to get back to Bar Amber. We procrastinated a little and in the end decided to drop by Bar Amber again. As we reach the entrance, there were loads of people outside the bar. Apparently the place was raided by police. Oh my god, of all place?? Bar Amber??

The police seized Bar Amber?s decks and even the DJ?s vinyls. No doubt everybody was pissed.

I have no idea why did they raid the place. I heard that they had a permit to hold that event. Further, the event was heavily advertised in websites and newspapers. Moreover, the police is required by law to have a warrant for search and seizure of property. I wonder what offences have Bar Amber committed and why did they raid the place? I bet everybody?s initial answer starts with an M.

Well, on the bright side, no one was arrested. And thank god no one was subjected to any urine test or whatsoever. It would be darn embarrassing if everyone was ordered to squat down with their heads on their head.

    Ravers!

    March 4, 2004

    xes

Got this from klue website.. :D

You know you are a raver when ...
... the total amount of sleep you get on weekends is the sum of how many times you've blinked since Friday night.

... you grin like a fool whenever you see a commercial for "E News" "E TV" or "E: The Entertainment Network"

... you navigate around the city using service-stations as landmarks

... you can't pass an empty warehouse, big open field, barn, aeroplane hanger, phone booth, etc, without getting that far-off look in your eyes and saying "Wow, what a great site for a rave!"

... you and your friends hear tumbling noises from the washing machine and all start to argue whether it's jungle or hardcore

... you have sleeping patterns that would kill normal human beings

... almost every letter of the alphabet has a separate meaning to you

... you forget about your dream of becoming a Doctor and start to wonder what it would be like to be a cartoon character...

... you wallpaper your room with old flyers

... all your friends have names like Gee Wiz, Marko, Angel, Hyper...etc...

... you've got a huge pile of dead glow-sticks in your room that you can't throw away for 'sentimental' reasons

... you don't own a watch, and if you do it's either edible or has a secret compartment

... you lose 10 kilos in one night and the last thing you think about the next morning is food

... you can live for an entire weekend out of your backpack

... you think perhaps Bill Gates was thinking of something else when he designed the Internet Explorer logo...

... you're happy when there's a recession because it means more empty warehouses

... you've got so much glowing stuff in your room that you can't sleep because of the brightness

... you've been close friends with someone for weeks without actually knowing their name

... you get home and you've got absolutely nothing that you can talk to your parents about from your weekend

... you automatically migrate towards anything fluorescent because you think it might be someone with a glow stick

... you buy clothes based on texture

... you don't give a flying f **k what you look like anymore and just dance, dance, dance...

... you can stand in front of a 12,000 watt speaker for an hour and be loving every minute of it

... you won't spend money on things you need, but if someone at a party needs money, you'll give it to them

... you can wear out a pair of shoes in only a few days

... you can not carry out normal day to day activities without having little lights to play with

... you have a one-track mind, and it goes Boom-Boom-Beep-Boom-Beep-Boom-Boom (or... oountz, oountz, doof, doof, oountz, oountz, doof, doof!)

... you carry enough flashy electronic-things in your bag to light a small city

... when you are driving your car home you feel like you're in a Video game

... air, water, food, music, little lights... all hold equal importance to you

And lastly, ATTENTION ALL RAVERS! please read this!

[Edit] To avoid confusion, THE POST BELOW IS WRITTEN BY SOMEONE FROM THE KLUE WEB BOARD.

Oh and read this too :D Zouk in Kuala Lumpur

Zouk KL seems to be the hottest topic nowadays, but I wanna give you guys a different perspective on things...

First off, I'm not a Malaysian & I'm not a Singaporean...I'm a foreigner working in Singapore at the moment. But I spent a lot of time in KL (still do), so I know both clubbing scenes pretty well.

And let me tell you something!!! Singapore clubbing is not a scratch on KL clubbing!!! Whichever magazine you read (Mixmag blah blah), Zouk Singapore always gets a high rating...but just ask yourself, who actually votes for Zouk and why? None of the UK or US people would vote for Zouk obviously coz they've probably never been...it's just the Asians that vote for it...and why? Because there's a steady flow of international DJs performing. I've been to Zouk ONCE..and never gone back since..it's a pile of shite with a shite-flavoured cherry on top.

Now let me give you an example of why Zouk sucks BIG time. December 2003, world's number 1 DJ, Tiesto, plays in Singapore for the first time ever, at Zouk. Picture yourself there, and what can you imagine? Thousands of sweaty clubbers reaching for the ceiling chanting Tiesto!?.........NO!!!!!! OH NO!!!! OH NO BLOODY NO NOT AT ALL!!!...At 2am half the crowd are standing on the dancefloor sending text messages on their mobile phones!!...brilliant!!!

That just shows you what a bunch of uneducated posing assholes Singapore clubbers are. They dont go to Zouk because they like the music...they go to pose. Full stop. Zouk thinks they have created a culture...and I say...BOLLOX TO THAT!!! Created a culture???? HA! I've seen dance cultures before and Zouk is definately NOT one of them...try taking a look at people in the UK tatooing the Gatecrasher Lion on their own asses...now THAT'S a culture.

Oh...I nearly forgot...and what's Zouk's most successful night? Mambo Fucking Jambo on a Wednesday night!!!!! Sheer genius isn't it? What a brilliant dance culture they have! Damn I'm feeling jealous already!

KL, on the other hand, ROCKS!!! The clubbing scene in KL is so exciting. It is still developing fast, and the different types of music being played are in more pure forms. (Singaporeans think that house is techno, rock is rnb and techno is "music with the same beat")

So I wanna ask all of you...why does KL need Zouk? What makes Zouk think they are so good that they can come over to KL and improve KL clubbing with their club? Atmosphere could piss all over Zouk, along with a load of other clubs in KL...hell, even Beach Club could piss all over Zouk's Mambo Jambo night!!!

As an outsider to both countries, I think that Malaysian clubber should be insulted that Zouk think they can improve your nightlife with their big pile of shite. It's gonna fuck up the KL clubbing scene...spreading mambo jambo everywhere...shit man it could be a disaster for KL clubbers. It's like Bosnia opening up an electronics factory in Tokyo...nobody would give a shit and it would fuck up!!!

Finally...Malaysian clubbing is young, vibrant and full of top-class clubs and REAL talented DJs. I've been to many many superclubs around Asia and Europe...KL still shines out from the rest as a scene that is full of passion and open-minded clubbers. So please don't let arrogant people spoil it for you...YOU ROCK!!!

    hahahahahah

    bass agent @ crave

    January 25, 2004

    xes

Unscrupulous mother fuckers! The event was supposed to be free! Well, I’m talking about Crave (a new club in KL). According to sources, Bass Agents had problems with the management initially. They almost couldn’t play in the club but in the end they settled it with an agreement. Bass Agent will be playing for free and there will be no cover charge. However, Crave (the club) went around it by forcing everybody to pay for something called First entrance drink. They had this guy outside the club persuading people to buy a drink before entering the club. Those who refused were not allowed in.

Anyway, the music was good! Unfortunately, Fiona and Sharon didn’t like it because they weren’t properly dressed for the event. Everyone dressed sportily with sneakers.

The end ended early for us. And I sent Fiona and Sharon back to Klang. oOooohhh…the pain… of my wallet…

    Everybody bangs Gayvin
After a long night of waiting, Gavin, Fiona, Sharon and I finally adjourned to Atmosphere. Fiona wanted to club 9 9 before she leaves for Brisbane next Monday. We met up with Edwin, Daniel and Ryan, his army cousin from Singapore @ Atmosphere.

Ben came late. He didn’t want to pay for cover charge so we tried to get someone to bring him in for free. Edwin could bring him in but unfortunately, Ben was wearing short pants hence he wasn’t allowed to get in. However, while we were inside, we saw this white dude wearing short pants and SLIPPERS.

The club wasn’t pack at all and sadly the music sucks big time. The DJ seriously needs to get new vinyl because that ma fucker has been playing the same songs over and over again. Fortunately, Sharon and Fiona liked it!

    best new years eve ever!

    January 1, 2004

    xes

New Year Eve 2003 @ Mo Far Core, Bar Code, Phileo Damansara.
Despite the exorbitant cover charge, Mo Far Core was well worth it. It has been one of the best New Year eves that I’ve ever been to. The music was absolutely great, thanks to Bass Agents, a group of DJ who play nothing but hard music. Beer was on free flow. Chicks were abundant due to free entrance for girls. The club was small too. It made the entire scene like an underground rave. And the best of all, almost everybody knows everybody.

The rave didn’t go as smoothly though. Free flow was interrupted couple of times because they ran out of beer (The fact that loads of people were walking with a jug of beer as their cup solves the mystery why we ran out of beer). Then power supply was interrupted twice. It was really a turn off.

The place was also a drug fest. While I was waiting for the toilet, 3 guys were openly snorting Ice. But that wasn’t fascinating enough. One of the guys who snorted Ice pissed for more than a minute. I wonder what he has drunk.

      Erimin 5 & Versaces

Despite the abundant amount of girls, I didn’t get to met many. Damn.

I'm off to Port Dickson for a night trip with my friends. Cya guys tomorrow.

    DJ Maverick's world record attempt
DJ Maverick's 90 hours DJ set started at 10AM this morning. So Ben, Sui Lin, Cris, Iris, Don, Johnson, Wei Hai, Gavin, YS, Ivan and I headed down to Sg. Wang plaza rooftop car park to give moral support. It's not exactly an open-air car park. It's actually a row of shops built in the car park.

The decks were located on a make shift stage with load of banners of the sponsors around. The amount of vinyl he has was abundant. Thanks to contributions from other DJs.

By the time we reached there, he has already spun for 14 hours. He looks tired but yet he was still dancing to the music. The song he was playing was pretty chill out and there weren't many people.

The set is documented through video recording. Witnesses are also needed. Anyone can be a witness; so long they stay for the set for 4 hours. On the other hand, non-witnesses can sign the guest book. I saw Jonathan Kent's (BBC correspondent) name and a lawyer from a prestigious law firm in the guest book

Paramedics are on standby in case anything goes wrong. A portable toilet is next to the stage. And there?s a little hut outside the venue for him to rest.

At 2AM, the crowd got larger. After his 15 minutes break (he is allowed 15 minutes break every 8 hours), Maverick pumped up the music and people started dancing.

He'll be ending his set on Tuesday, 2PM. I wonder if Ahmad Badawi, our Prime Minister would be there to present him a medal or something. Hehe

We asked him what is he going to do once he finishes his set. He said, "I'll rush home to go online and download all the new songs released during my absence". A true DJ I tell you.

Here are some pictures I took with Sui Lin's camera..

    Patpat's gathering

    December 21, 2003

    xes

Sui Lin, Ben, Cris, Wei Hai, Jia Nee, Farah and I met up with Pat and her sister, Mac @ Chills. Pat and her sister are down in KL for a short trip. Pat was in Switzerland before this.

We went to Viva for Carlsberg?s free flow party at Viva. The place was cock. It?s an R&B club and it was a super duper ultimately packed! Ben and I ended up sitting throughout the night. However, I cannot deny the fact that R&B clubs have abundant amount of chicks and really fit ones. I wonder if R&B music makes them tEh bomb!

KENT clubbers decided to throw a year-end party for its members so they hired Deep Dish to spin at Shooting Valley, a commercial studio. By the way it was free but it?s invites only. About 1100 plus people attended the rave.

In the beginning, the music sucked due to the cock DJ they hired. But towards the end, Deep Dish played a good set. I thought he would suck too!

Before the rave, they had a contest. All prizes were above RM1000! Guess what, Gayvin won a Nokia handphone! Ryan on the other hand got himself a Tag Heueur watch!

Gay people have better luck than us heterosexuals. Furthermore, they gave out a Prada Bag too. A guy won it. I bet by the end of the night, he has girls all around him.

Unfortunately, the place was too small and it was super duper ultimately hot! Furthermore, the place has only 2 fans. You could sweat just by standing still. The carpet was wet too. I think it was due to human sweat, EUW.

The night ended with supper with Abby Lu. I got home at 6AM.

    Kevin Saunderson, U SUCK

    December 13, 2003

    xes

Kent Choice: e.Motion Featuring Kevin Saunderson
      Date: 13 December, 9pm
DJ : Kevin Saunderson (Techno pioneer)
Genre : Techno ( Detroit style)

To finish off the run-up to the year-end e.Motion Finale, Kent brings down one of the godfathers of techno, Kevin Saunderson, to throw a party that will keep techno heads out there buzzing for days.

RM50 (inclusive of 1 drink), RM25 (before midnight, for first 300 KCC members, inclusive of 1 drink)

I went for the rave at Atmosphere featuring Kevin Saunderson, the GODFATHER OT TECHNO.

      HE SUCKS

Godfather of techno, is that all you can do?????? His beat mixing was fuckup and the songs he played aren't hard as well. There was a point where he was playing salsa music. I wanted to run up the stage and yell, "Godfather of techno, is that all you can do???". Well of course I didn’t. The place was too packed to move at all. Despite that, loads of friends were there. Met up with many of my long lost friends.

Shoutouts to Jeslyn, Sasa, Chin, Jennifer and all the usual faces in Atmosphere! (Please not that I hate that place, I go there cause loads of my friends go there and it's one of the remaining decent clubs in KL). Btw, thank you Gavin for the cheapo ticket, I owe u a blowjob (ATTN: To avoid confusion, I'm not giving him a blowjob but I'll get someone to give him a blowjob :D ).

    bar sa vanh

    December 11, 2003

    xes

Cris, Gavin, Ben, Sui Lin, Lynnzter, Irenekay, Perry, Iris, Fuzzy, Nik Lim, Hani, Wookookoo, me and many more were at Bar Sa Vanh, a new pub with Bali designs in town. The place was a really nice place to chill out, loads of beautiful people and great music. So without hesitation, the alcohol started pouring and Sui Lin, Lynn and Gavin were drunk. The night was filled with laughter, pictures and stupid things.

Cris and I bought Gavin a tequila pop as a present for passing his exams. Within minutes, Gavin was drunk, and also lonely. So we suggested some pickup lines for him to use and he eventually used some.

?Is your father is a terrorist? ?cause you are the bomb!?
?There are 365 bones in your body, but do you want an extra bone??
?Fancy a fuck?? (Lynn slapped him after he said that)

    But nothing beats this,
    Gavin: Are you feeling touched?
    Lynn: NO..
    Gavin: CAN I TOUCH YOU!?!?!

    And

Gavin: Lynn, you hair looks great today!
    Lynn: Thanks..
Gavin: Can I take you home tonight?!?!!

    jason midro tonighT!

    October 25, 2003

    xes

Jason Midro @ Voyeur, Bangsar Bar Med, Hartamas, 1AM tonight! Spread the news!

      Jason Midro @ Bar Med!
Jason Midro was supposed to spin at Sydney today but instead, he was in Bar Med, Hartamas doing a free 2 hours set for fun. Bar Med used to be packed with yuppies when it first opened but now, it’s filled with Ah Bengs and Ah Lians (if you have no idea who they are, too bad cause you are one of them). Since it’s a Saturday night, the club was fucking pack pack pack. Despite that, it didn’t hamper our support for Jason Midro. We braved through the sea of Ah Beng and Ah Lians, shoving and pushing them away just to listen to Jason Midro’s superb High-Energy Trance set!

His set lasted about 2 hours. It was fantastic but he was better during Reinforced! Shuffling was tough as people kept on walking and moving around our shuffling spot. The sad thing is, majority of the crowd had no idea who Jason Midro is. For your information, he’s a resident DJ in Bass Station, Melbourne, Australia!

By the end of the night, we were happy with his performance. We left immediately after the resident DJ took over cause the fellow started playing some fengtau music. And once again, since the club is packed with Ah Beng, there was a fight right after Jason Midro’s set. I wonder if Jason Midro’s music makes Ah Bengs violent.

P/S Somebody groped Gavin’s cock while dancing. HAHAHHAHA

    reinforceed 2!!

    October 24, 2003

    xes

Happy Deepavali to ALL MY INDIAN VISITORS!!

Next week will be the Muslim’s fasting month. I overheard this conversation while at Uncle Maverick’s place.

Malay Man: Eh.. Is this shop open during the fasting month?
      Maverick: yeah, of course!
Malay Man: So… is the backdoor open during the fasting month? ;D

Apparently, the Malay man wanted to break his fasting during the fasting month. It is an offence to break your fasting, and if caught, you’ll be arrested and brought to court with a mortuary car. :D

      Reinforce 2
The rave was one of the best I’ve ever been!

The music was fucking good especially Jason Midro’s set. The crowd was good, with loads of familiar faces and I say, 25% of the crowd could do the Melbourne Shuffle! ;D

Jason Midro’s set started at 4:30AM, and by that time, the dance floor was half empty. I was dead tired by then. However, his high-energy trance was fucking good, it was a waste to sit down and rest!

Despite the uplifting sets of all the DJs, there were fights between some rival gangs. No blood shed though but it was a turn off as raves were supposed to be a place to be enjoyed and not to get into trouble.

While resting outside, a girl joined our group and sat next to Gavin. So to make things clear, Gavin was sitting in between of Johnson and the girl.
Gavin: Hi I’m Gavin. *stretches hand for a hand shake*
Girl has no response. Gavin waves desperately for attention. Then, Johnson, sitting next to Gavin,
      Johnson: Hi I’m Johnson.
Girl: Hi I’m Kat. *shakes hand*
Gavin still with his hand stretched out, looked at me. I laughed uncontrollably. Hahahaha

Anyway, Gavin wasnt trying to pick the girl up. It's just a friendly gesture to introduce each other according to this conversation..

      Gavin says:
its just trying to say hello mar since she is don's friend. how i know I say hello she never respond
      Gavin says:
its called friendly gesture. so you see im not licking her up
      Gavin says:
      oh nia ma...die another typo!!

The best part of all, rave from 11PM to 6AM + entrance + Parking + Drinks + huge space + good crowd + fucking good music = Total Cost = 0 Ringgit!!!

    gay club last night :D

    October 4, 2003

    xes

This week has been pretty gay for me. I mean, really gay.

I went to a gay club last night. No, not to pick up gay men but Regenerate decided to hold their rave there this time (Regenerate is an event performed by locals DJs). And last night couple of our friends was spinning so we decided to give them some support. By the way, entrance was free for the first 200 patrons.

At the beginning, we got the entire dance floor for ourselves. But soon, the gay men invaded the dance floor and we were instantly evicted to a corner. Those muscular guys were hugging and kissing each other on the dance floor. I was terribly disgusted when gay men shook their ass in front of me and when they danced like ‘sotongs’ (cuttlefish).

Fortunately, the heterosexual corner was filled with friends. There were could strut our shit. However, the music sucks big time. Johnson said the music was catered for the gay men since it’s a gay club.
That will be the first and last time I step foot into a gay club. No more!!

      Dad back from Bangkok
Dad is back from Bangkok. He said the place is much better now as the Thai government cleaned up the streets for the upcoming APEC conference. Policemen everywhere, beggars sent back to Cambodia and stray dogs captured into pounds. Anyway, he brought loads of stuff back for me. He got me a really nice t-shirt, stamps, a book and articles in Japanese for me to read. Hm, have you notice that every time we get new clothes, we would want to wear it immediately without washing it? But never! I shall resist the temptation!

The book that Dad bought for me is called “1421 The Year China discovered the world”. According to the book, contrary to popular belief, Christopher Columbus did not discovered America. China’s admiral fleets arrived at America 70 years before Columbus and arrived Australia 350 years before Cook.

    Infusion @ Atmosphere

    September 7, 2003

    xes

Kent Clubbers held a free party for all its members and their guest. I was told that they were giving out free finger food and free booze plus liquor. I guess that?s what everybody heard since there were loads of people. The free food was good especially the cheesecake. However, we were cheated, instead of free booze plus liquor, they gave out free Pepsi Blue. We had to buy our own liquor! But never mind, the food was good and their performances were good too.

The music went good to bad and then bad to worst. Infusion sucks. Infusion is made up of 3 DJS. They?re actually a band as one of them sang the vocals.

The crowd was good, loads of pretty people. I bet Ryan the gay magnet got picked up by gay men again. Hehe. However, towards the end of the night, the club was pack, so pack that I couldn?t stand still on the same place for 5 seconds as people keep on pushing me.

I stood straight with my arms folded staring at the DJ console. Then suddenly, a cute petite girl came to me,
Hi, excuse me. Are you taking care of your girlfriend now? (Referring to the girls standing on the podium)
Me: Oh no, I'm looking at the DJs now.
(In a flirty tone and cute face) ohh, you're not dancing? Can you please move over a little so I can dance? (Well she didn?t exactly said that but it was something like that)
    Me: ....
    Me: okay sure no problem!

Well, I could have continued our conversation but I was too shy. Damn, there goes another cute girl. Well, if I were to continue the conversation, I?ll just initiate an innocent conversation. But according to Dion, I should have said, "well I've been looking for a girl to dance with. Do you mind?" Ha ha. I might as well say, "Hey is your father a terrorist? Cause you are the bomb!!!"

Sui Lin, Irene, Cris, Ben and I headed to Atmosphere for Yit Meng's birthday. He opened 6 bottles of whisky! However, Meng couldn?t bring us in and we had to fork out our own money to get in. The KCC (KENT clubbers) members paid RM20 while, non-KCC members like me, pay RM40. Fuck up KCC, they kicked me out from the club cause I'm not a smoker. Ha ha.

Music was so-so. I thought the Japanese DJ was going to play hard techno for us but it was too slow for me. I want to fengtau!! (Fengtau = a typical Malaysian Ah Beng dance that involves shaking the head non-stop)

Anyway, Hi Eraine, Did you enjoy yourself just now? :D Oh yeah, Hi Ben and Nigel, nice meeting you guys :D oooohh..not forgetting horny fai, nexus, wheimeng, ccl, tmt and err..fuck it, bumped into too many people .

Meng was almost gone by 2AM. He was running away from his friends and took refuge at our place. My god, he was like a drunken chick, running around hugging people. I bet he doesn?t remember what he did, the next morning.

Alright, I got to sleep now. I have to get out from the house at 7:20AM to play football. Good night everyone.

Genting Rave - 16.8.2003

August 17, 2003

xes

Sui Lin, Ryan, Cris and I reached Sui Lin?s apartment (located on the foothill of Genting Highlands) about 6PM. We unpacked our bags and goodies, watched a Malay army show on a 20 year old television (it has only one channel hence we were forced to watch it. Surprisingly, the 20 year old box still has power to glue our eyes on it even though the screen was all fuzzy) and change. We lamed around in the apartment for an hour or so before we headed to Genting to have dinner (fast food again).

Cris had free ticket. I couldn?t get my free ticket from a friend so Ryan and I ended up buying the RM50 ticket. Sui Lin was waiting for Rueben for her free ticket but we had to wait for Rueben for couple of hours at Starbucks. Gavin came with his parents and sister and he had couple of VIP passes. Goddamn it, if I knew earlier, I wouldn?t have bought the RM50 tickets. Anyway, the VIP passes come with a tag with the word VIP on it and VIPs are entitled to free flow of beer on a special tent with security guards guarding the entrance. We got our share of free flow beer as Gavin?s dad helped us to get into the VIP area. Thanks Gavin :D

At the beginning, the music sucks ass. The DJs were playing house music and lousy tribal break beats. Someone please shoot the deejays please. To add salt on wound, a friend of mine came over and said, ?eh, I saw your ex girlfriend just now, she has a new boyfriend eh?? What the fuck man..

Soon it started to drizzle. I was well prepared as I brought my trusty Sheffield Uni Muay Thai Club hoodie jacket along. The light rain didn?t dampen the clubbers? spirit and we raved under the rain. However, the rain got heavier and people scrambled into the tents.

As soon as heavy rain stops, we were back on the dance floor again. No doubt there was another exhibition of Melbourne Shuffle again. The scene is getting bigger again. During Melbourne Shuffle?s early days in Malaysia, shufflers were predominately Chinese. But now, there were a handful of Malay shufflers. My dream of making Melbourne Shuffle popular in KL came true!

Anyway, there were couple of late minute appearance of my fellow friends. Irene, Big Ben, Melvin and Sow came at the right time. Right time = raining heavily and lousy music. Ohh yeah I bet Big Ben loves Genting even more now!

We left the place about 5:30AM (party ends at 6AM). We were all tired, drenched and hungry and our feet were at the verge of falling off. Instead of heading back to Sui Lin?s apartment to sleep till late afternoon, we had to wake up early cause Sui Lin has catwalk practice in the afternoon.

Initially we planned to head home immediately but in the end we decided to sleep for couple of hours. Even though it?s only couple of hours, we woke up feeling much, much better. Oh yeah, Cris fingered Ryan while Ryan was sleeping. Ha ha. *private joke*

Thursday = Tech-circuit, Atmosphere
Friday = Jungle Jerry's attempt to set Malaysian's spinning record, Atmosphere
Saturday = Regenerate, Emporium

I got into Regenerate for free. Well, the first 200 patrons get free entry but unfortunately I was the number 201 patron. God damn it! However, Jia Nee and Cris had a little plot. Jia Nee and I exchanged entry hand band while Jia Nee claims for a Media pass to get in. However, it didn't work cause Jia Nee's name wasn?t on the media list. However again, I was already inside Emporium using the entry hand band. I passed the entry hand band to Cris so that he could pass it to back Jia Nee. It worked! 3 of us got inside for free!

The music was good but the atmosphere wasn?t so good. It was pretty boring.

Okay, I think I'm off the clubbing scene till the 16th August, Genting Highland rave.

Btw, Happy Birthday Facky :D

Euw
Euww... This morning, Dad found a kitten's head under the table. Apparently, it was bitten off by some animal. It couldn't be the mother of the kitten cause it's mouth is too small. We suspected it was the neighbour's dog who occasionally runs into our compound. May the kitten rest in peaaceeee...amennn

Ops... news update! Apparently the kitten wasn't killed by my neighbour's dog but was killed by it's own mother. My tenant saw the mother killing it's own child. :/

My faithful phone of 2 years, has finally gave in. The screen is now totally blank. I can't read text messages or even recheck the number I dialled. And it even resulted to this,
Hello, hai pin tou?? (Where are you in Cantonese)
hello bzz bzz ffderhjwhjew (sound of a distorted line)
hey the reception is damn bad
(other party slams down the phone, I redialled)
?hai pin tou?? (where are you?)
(other party mumbles)
Hello Wai Keong hai tou mou?? (Is Wai Keong there?)
Wai Keong ah? Sei joor la! (Wai Keong? He's dead!)
(other party slams down the phone again)

Sepang Rave 28 December 2002 Saturday
Finally, the long awaited rave, the Sepang F1 Circuit rave, has come. The preparation for it was a hectic one, loads of waiting and travelling. I had to carry the booze we bought yesterday (1 carton of beer, 1 bottle of vodka and 1 bottle of Bacardi Lemon) and borrow a Coleman from Jin Han to store our booze and ice.

I fetched Chin, jo5 and Justine to the rave. In return, Chin offered to pay all the toll charges. It cost him dearly.

For the first time, the security was tight. A body and bag check up is required. Cameras are not allowed (it could be a bomb?). I had to forgo my intention of bringing my camera in. However, we decided to smuggle it in. All we did was just standing next to an empty corner of the fence and pass it to the person standing on the other side.

The parking from the entrance was far. We had to walk for damn long to entrance. Chi, jo5 and Justine had to make 2 trips from the car to the entrance because the security refused to let them bring their camera in.

We were greeted with a huge area with white tents perched to sell tickets. KENT clubbers (KCC, that includes me) ticket holders had to line up to validate their tickets with their KENT clubbers card, identity and a packet of cigarettes (!??). Since I?m not a smoker, I had to borrow a cigarette and puff it in front of the KENT staff. It worked. I got my ticket validated!

While everybody was patiently queuing on the KCC ticket booth, the On-door ticket sale counter was virtually deserted. Malaysians are stingy to the max.

We bought too much drinks until we thought of opening our own stall in the car park to sell them away.

We were too pissed to finish all of them. We even had to give our beers away to Eishin to finish it. Boy, he surely drinks like a fish.

The place was huge, so huge that there?s enough space for everyone. Melbourne shufflers gather on the edge of the dance floor to shuffle. It?s amazing how the popularity of Melbourne Shuffle is resurrected once again. It was dead for couple of months and now it seems that it?s back on the dance floor again. Now even Malay ravers could shuffle. Yit Meng and I spoke to one of them. He seemed pretty friendly but all we did was just an exchange of name and smiles.

There were 2 main areas, area 6 and area 9. Each of them resembles a huge white tent and has rough cement floor (shuffling was hard). Big international DJS such as Sasha, John Acquaviva and Space DJs were the main attraction. However, I spent most of my time running around looking for my friends than dancing. It?s amazing how a person could disappear in a crowd within seconds.

Some of my friends left early. Hen was sick while the others were too tired. All that was left were Ping Sheong, the girls and I. We took break from the dance floor and boozed in the car park for an hour. But yet we still couldn?t finish everything.

We left the place as soon as the rave closes down at 6am. Driving back was chaotic and hectic as my body were on the verge of shutting down. Thank god we got home in one piece.
